How it works

  1. Pitch

60 seconds to camera on your phone: who you are, the film in a sentence, what exists, and what you need.
  2. The Slate

Judges clap or pass. The films with the most claps move on, and you pick which judge champions you.
  3. Deal Day

You say again what you need. Judges make offers or pass. You decide.

What you get

A film crew at work on a lit set at night.
  • Real reactions

Notes from people you could not otherwise get in front of, on the record.
  • An audience first

Your film becomes a 75-second short in an episode of 5, and viewers can vote for it.
  • Laurels to carry

A Breakout laurel for every round you reach, for your poster and your posts.
  • Names are checked

Cast and crew you name are confirmed with them first, so your package is believed.

The hardest part is getting in the room. This is the room.

Questions

Can I enter now?
Not yet. Sign up and we will write to you when entries open and the official rules are published. Signing up is not an entry.
What do I need?
A film at any stage with something to show: a trailer, teaser or proof of concept of 90 seconds or less, and the rights to everything in it, music included.
Do I keep my film?
Yes, all of it. Taking part lets the show use your pitch and your trailer in the show and to promote it. Nothing else.
What could I win?
Notes, a champion on the panel, and offers on Deal Day, which judges choose to make or not. The season winner also gets a featured release on OpenFlix, a featured Film Fund campaign and a strategy session.
Can I say who is attached to my film?
Yes, once we have confirmed it with them. Anyone attached can also send a short clip, which is shown as a reveal.
