For the panel

Help decide which films break out.

Filmmakers pitch and show a trailer. You react, vote, and make an offer only if you want to. It is recorded on your phone, when it suits you.
  • About an hour for the pilot
  • No studio, no travel
  • Never obliged to offer

Ask about the panel
Tell us who you are and a person will write back.
We will email you about Breakout and nothing else.

How it works

  1. Watch

We send you the films: a 60-second pitch and a trailer for each.
  2. Call it

Film yourself watching, say what you think, then clap the slate or pass.
  3. Offer, or not

On Deal Day you may offer notes, an introduction, your name or a deal. Or nothing.

Why people say yes

A read-through table with scripts laid out under a work light.
  • First look

New films and filmmakers, before anyone else sees them.
  • Minutes, not days

A few minutes a film, recorded when it suits you.
  • Your own clips

Cut and captioned every week, to post on your own accounts.
  • Your call

A limited number of yeses, so each one means something. Any offer is yours.

A yes from the right person changes a film.

Questions

How much time is it?
About an hour for the pilot, and a few hours across a season. You record on your phone inside a window we agree.
Do I have to make an offer?
No. You are never obliged to. An offer is yours, made in principle, and put on paper privately afterward.
Is it paid?
The pilot is unpaid and voluntary. We send the kit you need and cut your clips for you.
Will I see my clips first?
Yes. You see every clip of you before it is posted.
How are judges chosen?
By invitation. Tell us who you are here and a person will write back.
