How it works
Pick a plan
Your credits arrive the moment your payment clears, and again each time your pass renews.
Send credits to campaigns
Open any campaign on the Film Fund and send as many or as few as you like. Split them across several films or put them all behind one.
They count toward the goal
Your credits move the campaign total right away. If the film reaches its goal, the filmmaker receives every one of them.
What you are agreeing to
- What is a MovieFund Pass?
- A monthly pass that is only credits. Each month you get credits to send to any film campaign on the OpenFlix Film Fund, and each credit adds one cent toward that campaign's goal. It does not include streaming; that is the MovieHop Pass.
- How much of what I pay reaches filmmakers?
- Ninety percent of each payment becomes credits, and every credit you send reaches the filmmaker in full, with no fee taken out. The other ten percent pays for card processing.
- What happens to credits I do not send?
- They expire when your pass renews each month. Credits do not roll over, so send them before your renewal date, which is shown wherever your credits are.
- Can I take credits back after sending them?
- No. A send is final, because a filmmaker plans against the total. If the campaign does not reach its goal or is cancelled, the credits are returned to your pass and can be sent again until that month ends.
- Do I get a reward or a tax receipt?
- No. Sending credits is not a pledge: it carries no reward and no ownership of the finished film. The MovieFund Pass is a subscription, not a donation, and it is not tax-deductible.
- Can I cancel?
- Any time. Your pass stops renewing and you keep the month you already paid for, including any credits you have not sent yet.
- What if a payment is refunded?
- That month's credits end with the refund. Any you had not sent are gone, and any you sent to a campaign that is still open are taken back off its total.
