01 What a closed platform does to a finished film

  1. A submission that sits in a queue for months and comes back as a form rejection with no reason on it.
  2. An aggregator that takes a fee up front and a share on the back end, and reports in a spreadsheet you cannot check.
  3. A film on a free video site, wearing somebody else's advertising, earning fractions of a cent.
  4. Subtitles you paid for, sitting in a folder, because there was nowhere to put them.

02 How it works

01

Upload the film

A feature or a series, with its poster, trailer and chapters. Drop a whole subtitle delivery on the title as one folder: each file's language is read from its name, you check the detection, and every track uploads at once.

02

Set the price, per title

Pay to watch as a permanent purchase, a rental that defaults to 48 hours, or pay per view, with a free teaser before the paywall. A series can be priced whole, by season or by episode. Features need 70 minutes; episodes need 12.

03

Choose where it plays

Availability country by country and pricing by region. The web platform serves 26 languages, including Arabic and Urdu right to left.

04

Open a studio subscription

Viewers can subscribe to your studio rather than buy one title at a time, and you see your subscribers in one place.

05

Opt into the MovieHop Pass

One toggle per title. The Pass is launching on a waitlist, and when its pool opens half of Pass revenue is shared with participating films by watch time.

03 The monetisation panel

One form decides how a film earns.

This is the per-title panel as the product renders it: the price model, the rental window, the teaser, the granularity and the Pass toggle. Nothing on it is decided for you.

THE SALT ROAD FEATURE / 94 MIN

Runtime 94 min

Clears the 70-minute feature minimum for monetisation.

05 Questions people actually ask

Is OpenFlix exclusive?

No. You keep every right you arrived with and can publish anywhere else at the same time. There is an exclusivity flag on a title, and it is yours to set or leave alone.

What does it cost to be on the platform?

Uploading is free. You set the price on each title — free, rental, purchase or pay per view — and you can change it later. Nothing here promises you an audience; it gives you the shelf and the till.

Does it play on a television?

Yes. Android TV and Google TV, and Amazon Fire TV, today. Samsung, LG, Roku, Amazon Vega and Apple TV are rolling out. Pair a TV to your account with a code at /activate.

What is the MovieHop Pass?

A household streaming pass, from $5 a month for one person to $25 a month for a household of ten. It is launching on a waitlist. When its revenue pool opens, half of Pass revenue is shared with participating films by watch time, and opting a title in is one toggle.

Storyline

Rather be pitched than read a page?

Three minutes, swipeable, and it makes the whole case for you rather than listing what the product has.
